Fort Wayne, Ind. – The National Women’s Lacrosse League released the 2013 NWLL Preseason Coaches’ Poll on Tuesday and the Warriors, last year’s runner-up, will begin the season as the No. 2 ranked team.
Defending NWLL champions Savannah College of Art & Design (SCAD) was voted as the top team by league head coaches. Aquinas College came in at No. 3 followed by Shorter University and Tennessee Wesleyan College to round out the top-5 of the 15 team league.
Indiana Tech earned a share of the NWLL regular season title last season with SCAD after posting a league record of 9-1 and were 12-4 overall. Tech rolled through the first two rounds of the NWLL Tournament to set up a showdown with SCAD for the championship. It took three overtime periods, but SCAD came away with the narrow 18-17 victory.
The Warriors return almost everyone, including All-Conference players Kendall Guthrie and Autumn McMillin, and will look to return to the top in 2013 under first-year Head Coach Emily Shreeve.
Indiana Tech opens its season on the road against McKendree University in Lebanon, Illinois on Saturday, Mar. 2. Game time is scheduled for 12 p.m.
Tech’s first home game will be on Mar. 17 when they welcome Franklin College to Fort Wayne.
