On May 22, 2009, Audrea Castaneda alongside her Dad, Harry Castaneda, visited Indiana Tech to sign her Letter of Intent. Castaneda hails from Libertyville, IL, and played lacrosse at Libertyville High School. Women's Lacrosse Head Coach Ed Karasek noticed her and the value she would be able to add to the women's lacrosse roster during the Windy City Classic held at New Trier, IL, in late-April.
Libertyville High School had a good year. They went 15-5 on the season – at one point winning nine in a row. The defense came up big during many of those games. Some of them were very close.
Coach Karasek says: “Defense, defense, defense. Audrea obviously plays defense and is the top defensive player on Libertyville’s team. This young lady is quick and speedy – and anticipates the attack in an exceptional way. Defensive skills of this caliber are really hard to find since most players want to be scoring goals, not preventing them.”
