Guthrie, McMillin Highlight NWLL Postseason Honors

Fort Wayne, Ind. – Six members of the Indiana Tech women’s lacrosse team earned 2012 National Women’s Lacrosse League All-Conference honors this year, announced by league officials on Tuesday.

Highlighting the Warriors recognized were sophomores Kendall Guthrie (Lake Oswego, OR/Lake Oswego) and Autumn McMillin (Britton, MI/Tecumseh). Guthrie received her second straight First Team Midfield All-Conference selection after leading the team scoring. She was one of the top scoring threats in the league with 88 points and 74 goals, which rank her third in both categories.

McMillin also picked up her second piece of All-NWLL hardware, being named to the Second Team Attack following a First Team selection in 2011. She collected the most points on the team behind Guthrie, notching 50 goals and 13 assists.

The Warriors had four athletes named to the Honorable Mention Team, including Emily Bell (Blue Ash, OH/Sycamore), Clea Endres (Ft. Wayne, IN/Homestead), Holly Holod (Chicago, IL/Lane Tech), and Chelsea Olson (Canton, MI/Canton). Bell’s solid play anchored one of the top defenses in the league. Endres, Holod, and Olson were major factors in Tech’s offensive success this season as the team led the NWLL in goals per game at 18.05. Olson scored 40 times and had 13 assists while Holod buried 25 goals and was second on the team with 15 assists. Endres also added 26 goals.

In addition to their success on the field, Indiana Tech boasts the most players of any school named to the NWLL All-Academic Team. The Warriors had 10 student-athletes recognized for their effort in the classroom. Among those receiving the award were Brandi Beasley (Leander, TX/Leander), Audrea Castaneda (Libertyville, IL/Libertyville), Ashley Elvey (Holland, OH/St. Ursula), Clea Endres, Kendall Guthrie, Nicole Johnson (Osceola, IN/Penn), Nicole Moffat (Marshall, MI/Marshall), Chelsea Olson, Alyssa Priebe (Granger, IN/Penn), and Nikki Rottell (Plymouth, MI/Plymouth). To be eligible, students must have at least sophomore academic standing and a cumulative 3.25 GPA or higher.
