FORT WAYNE, IN – The Indiana Tech Women’s Soccer team is proud to announce that Courtney Lakes (Camden, OH / Preble Shawnee HS) has signed a letter of intent to play soccer for the Warriors for the fall of 2013.
Lakes, a 5’6 defender, is a four year varsity starter for the Fighting Arrows and she has been an anchor on the Arrows defense. She was All-SWBL in 2009- 2011 as well as All County. Lakes was First Team All-District, First Team All-Area Dayton West and All-County Player of the Year in 2011. She was also selected Captain her junior and senior year and she was Defensive Player MVP in 2011.
Lakes is also a varsity member of the Arrows basketball and softball teams. She has garnered a plethora of awards in both sports including All-SWBL, All-County and Offensive and Defensive MVP. She was also a honoree of the Rae Burick Women in Sports Award given by the Kiwanis Club of Dayton, OH.
Lakes is not only a “diamond” on the field but she is stellar in the classroom as well. She is in the National Honor Society and she has received the Principal Scholar Award in each of the four years in high school. She is currently ranked 15th in her class of 106.
“Courtney has the athletic ability, size and strength we need on defense” said Warrior Head Coach Jim Lipocky, “She has all the necessary tools to succeed at the collegiate level. We are excited she has chosen Indiana Tech to continue her soccer career.”
