RESULTS | ADRIAN, Mich. –The Indiana Tech women’s soccer team dropped its second game in a row in conference play, suffering a 3-2 defeat at the hands of the Saints of Siena Heights on Friday. The Warriors fall to 5-6-1 on the season and 0-3 in WHAC play while Siena Heights improved to 5-6-1 overall and a 1-2 record in the WHAC.
After being delayed due to lightning, the two teams took the field in rainy, wet conditions and the Saints got off to a fast start. Elizabeth Davis scored in the seventh minute Paige Frey’s shot hit the post, Davis’ first attempt was blocked by was able to find the net on her own rebound. The Warriors got the equalizer in the 21st minute when Tori Singstock sent a free kick in from 30 yards out, slipping it just inside the near post for the 1-1 tie.
Just three minutes later SHU would take the lead on a breakaway as Megan Mousty took a pass from Mikayle Ferer and beat Warrior keeper Bre Wojnarowski for the 2-1 lead. Tech didn’t fold, scoring just before the half as Singstock sent a ball into the box after a foul. The ball bounced around in the front of the net and Michelle Dichlian got a foot on it for the goal.
Despite being outshot 13-8 in the half, the Warriors put four shots on goal to the six for the Saints, while the Orange and Black attempted two corner kicks to just one for the Saints.
It was a different story in the second half as SHU dominated the possession and eventually capitalized on their 11 opportunities, as Mousty netted her second goal of the game, a 45-yard breakaway, again beating Wojnarowski for the game-winner.
The Saints tallied 11 second half shots putting five on frame while limiting the Warriors to just four shots, two on frame. SHU also dominated corner kicks in the second period, attempting six to zero for Tech.
The Warriors will look to capture their first conference win of the season on Wednesday, Oct. 9 when they return home to host Marygrove.
