RESULTS | LIMA,Ohio – Despite three second half goals, the Indiana Tech women’s soccer team saw its three game winning streak snapped with a 4-3 loss at Northwestern Ohio in the regular season finale on Saturday.
It was a slow start for Tech (9-8-1, 4-5) as the Warriors attempted just five first half shots with only two of them on goal. Conversely, it was a fast start for the Racers (13-5, 7-2) who tallied 11 shots, putting 10 on frame with three finding the net in the first half.
Frida Bremer tallied her 19th and 20th goals of the season in the 21st and 35th minutes to give UNOH the 2-0 lead. Then just before half, in the 38th minute, Sarah Huchet tallied her 19th score of the season to extend the lead to three.
The Orange and Black found some life in the second half with Megan Perrey netting her sixth goal of the season just 51 seconds into play in the second half to cut the lead to two. It would be short-lived though as the Racers got the momentum back with their fourth goal of the match, the game-winner, off the foot of Jade Widdows, as she was assisted by Frida Bremer.
In the 84th minute Tori Singstock cut the lead to two and then netted her team-leading 17th goal of the season in the 88th minute to cut the lead to one, 4-3, but the Warriors ran out of time as their comeback fell short.
Tech tallied 11 total shots, eight on frame while UNOH tallied 20 shots and put 17 on goal. Jordan Roell made 13 saves in the game while the Racers Sara Olofsson stopped five shots.
The Warriors finish the regular season in seventh place in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference and will face UNOH again on Wednesday, Nov. 6 for the first round of the WHAC Tournament.
