| Softball Falls to Rams But Wins Against the Ravens |
3/17/09 – The Indiana Tech Softball split a pair of games at the NTC Tournament in Clermont, FL. In the first game, the Warriors lost to the Philadelphia University Rams, 7-3. Tech had built a 3-1 lead before the Rams rallied in the bottom of the 5th to score four runs and take the lead. Freshman Megan Groce (Milford, MI / Milford) went 2-4 with a run, a double, and one RBI. Junior Jessica Williams (Seattle, WA / Meadowdale) went 2-3 with a run and one RBI. In the second game, senior Mallory Harris (Greenfield, IN / Greenfield Central) went 2-3 with 2 runs, one double and one RBI and lead the Warriors to a 4-1 victory over the Franklin Pierce University Ravens. In addition, freshman pitcher Casey Prince (Severn, MD / Mt. De Sales Academy) won her first collegiate game. Prince went six innings scattering three hits and striking out two. Senior Brittany Miller (Spencerville, IN / Leo) pitched the final inning for the save and went 2-2 at the plate with 2 RBI’s. Up next for the Warriors is Midland Lutheran College (NE) and Morrisville State College (NY) on Friday at 11:30am and 1:30pm respectively. |
