3/20/09 – Softball went 1-1 on the day, opening with a loss to Midland Lutheran (4-2) and in the second game, the Warriors offense exploded for 23 runs against the Mustangs of Morrisville State (NY) in a 23-3 win.  Highlights against Midland included, senior April Alexander (Tukwila, WA / Franklin) went 3-4 with a double and one run scored.  Also, sophomore pitcher Dani Campbell (South Bend, IN / James Riley) pitched 4 2/3 innings of relief allowing no runs and scattering 5 hits.  In the Morrisville game, the Warriors flexed their muscles and hammered out a season high 23 hits including 4 doubles, 4 triples and one home run!  Leading the assault was senior Justine Brandt (Toledo, OH / Cardinal Stritch) going 4-5 with 2 doubles, a triple, 3 runs and 3 RBI’s.  Five other players had 3 hits with freshman Chia Lopez (Valley Center, CA / Valley Center) – 3-3 with 3 runs, 4 RBI’s and an inside the park home run.  Senior Brittany Miller (Spencerville, IN / Leo) also had 4 RBI’s on the day.  The Warriors wrap up their spring trip in Florida with games against Mt. Mercy College (IA) and Mt. Vernon Nazarene (OH) on Saturday morning.
