Battle Creek, MI – On Friday, May 4th, the Indiana Tech Softball team lost to Aquinas College 3-2 and the Warriors were therefore eliminated from the 2012 WHAC Softball Tournament. The Warriors finish their 2012 season with a record of 25-34.
The game was initially scheduled for Thursday night but severe weather delayed the game to Friday afternoon.
Freshman JC Plezbert (St. Charles, IL / St. Charles North) led off the game with her fifth home run of the season and the Warriors were quickly on top 1-0. The Saints tied the game up in the bottom of the second off a RBI double and things would stay tight until the fourth inning when the Warriors scored again as sophomore Patrice Suplicki (Stevens Point, WI / Stevens Point Area HS) would score from third off a Callie Busch (Jefferson, OH / Jefferson HS) groundout to second.
The Saints would tie it up again in the bottom of the fifth, setting the stage for a dramatic finale. The Warriors would nearly take the lead again as senior Allison Enderle (Washington, MO / Washington HS) was thrown out at home for the final out in the sixth. The Saints would take the lead for good in the home half of the sixth as they homered off of junior pitcher Sam Berrios (Wadsworth, IL / Warren Twp. HS) who had come in for relief of sophomore pitcher Tori Kilps (New Berlin, WI / Eisenhower HS). The Warriors tried to rally in the seventh but left a runner stranded at second at the final out.
Senior Casey Prince (Severn, MD / Mount De Sales HS) went 3-3 in her final game as a Warrior and Plezbert finished the day also going 3-3. Junior Martika Armstead (Richmond, IN / Northeastern HS) stole her conference leading 29th base of the season.
