4/1/09 – Fort Wayne, IN - Indiana Tech Softball improved to 3-0 in the WHAC with a doubleheader sweep of the visiting Davenport University Panthers. In the first game, the Warriors rallied late in the game to erase a 3-1 deficit and take the final lead 4-3. Senior Brittany Miller (Spencerville, IN / Leo) delivered the key hit in the sixth inning; driving in two runs with a two out single. Jessica Williams (Seattle, WA / Meadowdale) got her sixth win of the season and sophomore Samantha Simpson (Albion, MI / Albion) picked up her first save of the season. The second game was a slightly different story as the Warriors hit Davenport hard for 9 runs on 14 hits. Williams was a human highlight film going 2-3 with 2 runs, 5 RBI’s and 2 home runs. She has hit four home runs this week to bring her season total to six; she is currently the all-time leader in home runs with 24. Freshman Callie Busch (Jefferson, OH / Jefferson) hit her first home of the season and went 2-2 with a pair of RBI’s. Sophomore Dani Campbell (South Bend, IN / James W Riley) won her first game in relief. The Warriors will next travel to Dearborn, MI and Livonia, MI this weekend to play UM-Dearborn and Madonna University on Saturday and Sunday respectively.
