Saint Francis Results | Saint Joseph's Results
Rensselaer, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women’s tennis team went 1-1 over the weekend, defeating crosstown rival University of Saint Francis 7-2 on Friday night before suffering a 7-2 setback at Saint Joseph’s College on Saturday.
The Warriors dominated singles play against Saint Francis, winning at No. 1 – No. 4, and No. 6. Ana Hernandez and Stephanie Perez each won by 6-1, 6-0 decisions. Mounia Sami and Barbara Belli de Oliveira had closer matches, but defeated their opponents in straight sets. Kayla Morrell also earned a 6-0, 6-0 victory.
In doubles competition, the teams of Perez and Oliveria, at No. 2, and Ashley Benvenuti and Morrell, at No. 3, won by identical scores of 8-4.
On Saturday, Tech played well but was defeated by NCAA DII Saint Joseph’s. Sami earned a point for the Warriors at No. 3 singles with a 6-4, 6-3 win while Perez and Oliveira picked up a thrilling 9-7 win at No. 2 doubles.
The Warriors (3-4) open conference play on Thursday, Mar. 14 when they host Aquinas College at Wildwood Racquet Club beginning at 1:30 p.m.
