Fort Wayne, Ind. – After spending the last five weeks at No. 20 in the 2011-12 NAIA Wrestling Coaches’ Top 20 Poll, the Indiana Tech wrestling team dropped out of the Top 20 to No. 22 in the fourth edition of the rankings released by the national office on Wednesday.
Since the last poll released on Dec. 21, the Warriors competed at the Lake Erie College Storm Open where Tech saw its eighth wrestler qualify for the NAIA National Championships. Sophomore Adam Fahs (Portage, MI/Trine) went 4-0 at 141-pounds to also become the second Warrior to capture a tournament title this season.
The Warriors also had a pair of grapplers drop spots in the Individual Rankings. At 133-pounds, freshman Travis Barroquillo (Wolcottville, IN/Prairie Heights) fell from the fifth spot to No. 7 and fellow freshman Tanner Martin (Ft. Wayne, IN/Snider) slipped a spot to No. 12 at 174-pounds.
The Warriors are back in action on Saturday, January 14 in North Manchester, Indiana for the Spartan Mat Classic held at Manchester College followed by a trip to Ypsilanti, Michigan on the next day for the Eastern Michigan University Duals. There, Tech will meet up with Clarion University and EMU beginning at 11 a.m.
