Fort Wayne, Ind. – The Indiana Tech wrestling team’s outstanding inaugural season continues as the Warriors were receiving votes in this week’s edition of the 2011-12 NAIA Wrestling Coaches’ Top 20 Poll announced by the national office on Wednesday.
Tech also had two grapplers ranked in the NAIA Wrestling Top-12 Individuals of their weight classes. Freshman Travis Barroquillo (Wolcottville, IN/Prairie Heights) is ranked 10th at 133-pounds and fellow freshman Tanner Martin (Ft. Wayne, IN/Snider) is 12th at 174-pounds.
The Warriors have qualified 11 of a possible 12 wrestlers for the NAIA National Championships including Travis Barroquillo, Kafuba Donzon (Albany, GA/Darton), Dustin Boyd (Mishawaka, IN/Calumet), Andre Dunn (Kewanee, IL/Lincoln), Adam Fahs (Portage, MI/Trine), Connor Hughes (Portage, MI/Northern), Conner Lefever (Ft. Wayne, IN/Carroll), Reece Lefever (Ft. Wayne, IN/Carroll), Tanner Martin, Andre Sanders (Farmington Hills, MI/Harrison), and Brett Yarbrough (McDonough, GA/Henry County).
Indiana Tech will host Calumet College of St. Joseph on Friday, Feb. 10 at 7 p.m. in their final home meet of the season. The event will be a “White Out” and the first 100 fans in attendance to wear white will receive a free wrestling takedown foam finger. Be sure to arrive early because seats are limited.
