Fort Wayne, Ind. – The Indiana Tech wrestling team landed at No. 17 in the postseason edition of the 2011-12 NAIA Wrestling Coaches’ Top 20 Poll announced by the national office.
Head Coach Mike Ester and his Warriors finished an outstanding first year, placing 16th at the NAIA National Championships in the team standings and are eligible to compete in the National Dual Meet Championship next January. Tech qualified an impressive 11 of a possible 12 wrestlers to the championships in their inaugural season and placed two on the All-American podium, freshmen Travis Barroquillo (Wolcottville, IN/Prairie Heights) and Tanner Martin (Ft. Wayne, IN/Snider).
Three Warriors ended the season in the NAIA Wrestling Top 12 Individual rankings with Barroquillo and Martin leading the way. Barroquillo was ranked 4th at 133-pounds and Martin was 6th at 174. Joining the All-American duo in the rankings was sophomore Adam Fahs (Portage, MI/Trine). Fahs was ranked 11th at 141.
