Fort Wayne, Ind. – The Indiana Tech wrestling program and Head Coach Mike Ester have announced its year end awards from their inaugural season.
Outstanding Wrestler

The Warriors landed at No. 17 in the final 2011-12 NAIA Wrestling Coaches’ Top 20 Poll after capping off a very successful first season with a 16th place team finish at the 2012 NAIA National Championships.
Tech crowned its first two NAIA All-Americans at the national tournament, freshmen Travis Barroquillo (Wolcottville, IN/Prairie Heights) and Tanner Martin (Ft. Wayne, IN/Snider). Barroquillo placed fourth at 133-pounds and Martin placed sixth at 174-pounds.
With the team’s top-16 finish at the NAIA National Championships, the Warriors also qualified for the National Dual Meet Championships next January.
In addition to all the success on the mat, the Warrior wrestling team also excelled in the classroom. Tech received NAIA/NWCA All-Academic Team honors by having a team grade point average of 3.34, the second best GPA in the nation. Six wrestlers were also recognized for their hard work as NAIA/NWCA All-Academic Individuals for having qualified for the national tournament and having at least a 3.25 GPA or being an All-American with a 3.0 GPA.
