Fort Wayne, Ind. – The Indiana Tech wrestling program and Head Coach Mike Ester are proud to announce the signing of John Weldon from Comstock Park High School in Comstock Park, Michigan.
“We are extremely excited to welcome John to the Warrior wrestling family,” Coach Ester said. “John is a highly sought prospect out of the state of Michigan. He is a dedicated student-athlete and hardworking young man who gets it done in the classroom and on the mat. He fits the mold of what we are looking for in our program and will provide strong depth for us in our lower-middle weight class. We are projecting him to compete at 141-lbs.”
During his last three years on the varsity wrestling team at Comstock Park, Weldon’s record was 127-41. He was a three-time state qualifier, placing fifth in 2011, Ok Blue Conference Champion, two-time Honorable Mention All-Conference and outstanding freshman wrestler. He also was recently named Ok Blue Conference Linebacker for his football team.
"I chose to continue my wrestling career and education at Indiana Tech,” Weldon stated. “I really like the size of the campus along with the classroom size. I am excited to study criminal justice while wrestling for the Warrior wrestling team. I feel like I will be able to expand my talents here with Coach Ester and the rest of the staff and team. My goals while attending Indiana Tech are to become an All-Ameican and strive for a national title as well as help the team strive for their best in its quest to win national titles."
