Fort Wayne, Ind. – The Indiana Tech wrestling team landed at No. 15 in the first regular season edition of the NAIA Wrestling Coaches’ Top 20 Poll, announced by the national office on Wednesday.
After beginning the season at three open tournaments, Tech hosted Tiffin University in its first dual meet of the season on Tuesday night. Wins by Sidney Logan (Mishawaka, IN/Mishawaka) and James Bennett (Bowden, GA/Darton) propelled the Warriors to a 14-8 lead after five matches. However, the Dragons would take the next five on their way to a 29-14 victory.
In addition to their Top 20 team ranking, seven Warrior grapplers were ranked in the Individual Rankings.
Headlining the list were All-Americans Travis Barroquillo (Wolcottville, IN/Prairie Heights) and Tanner Martin (Ft. Wayne, IN/Snider). Barroquillo remained the top-ranked wrestler at 133-lbs and Martin held his position as the 3rd ranked wrestler at 174-lbs.
Adam Fahs (Portage, MI/Trine) slipped one spot to 12th at 141-lbs while Dustin Boyd (Mishawaka, IN/Calumet) and Logan Rimmer (Temperance, MI/Bedford) fell two spots each to 15th -- Boyd at 197-lbs and Rimmer at 285-lbs. Bennett stayed in the rankings at 16th at 157-lbs.
Jumping into the rankings for the first time was sophomore Brett Yarbrough (McDonough, GA/Henry County), who came in at 16th at 125-lbs.
Up next, Indiana Tech will head to the University of Great Falls in Great Falls, Montana for the Battle of the Rockies Duals on Nov. 30 where the Warriors will face some stiff competition in No. 4 Missouri Valley, No. 6 Great Falls, and No. 7 Montana St.-Northern.
The Warriors will compete in the Battle of the Rockies Open the following day.
