Indianapolis, Ind. – Two Indiana Tech wrestlers won their division at the 53rd annual Little State Invitational hosted by the University of Indianapolis at Nicoson Hall on Saturday.
Justin Brooks (Warsaw, IN/Indiana), who was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Wrestler, took home the title at 125-lbs while Andre Dunn (Kewanee, IL/Lincoln) won the 285-lbs championship.
Brooks recorded three straight pins to advance to the championship bout where he earned a 6-1 decision victory over Indianapolis’ Alex Johns.
Dunn picked up back-to-back pinfalls before defeating Wisconsin-Whitewater’s Anthony Edgren in the semifinals 8-3. In the championship match, Dunn rolled past Dequence Goodman of Lincoln College with a 12-4 major decision victory.
Four other Warriors also placed in their respective weight classes. Tommie Lockett (Ft. Wayne, IN/Heritage) and Kafuba Donzon (Albany, GA/Darton) both earned second place finishes – Lockett at 133-lbs and Donzon at 165-lbs. At 149-lbs, Brent Browner (Jeffersonville, IN/Jeffersonville) grabbed fourth place and Tim Scott (Detroit, MI/Highland Park) was fifth.
Up next, Indiana Tech will host the Warrior Duals on Saturday, Dec. 8. Tech will face three NAIA Top-15 ranked teams and another who is receiving votes. Action begins at 10 a.m. against No. 13 Missouri Baptist University.
