Fort Wayne, Ind. – The Indiana Tech wrestling program is proud to announce the signing of Brandon Sunday from Bedford High School in Temperance, Michigan.
“A much needed weight (197-lbs) for us to recruit should be solidified by adding Brandon to the back end of the line-up next season,” said Indiana Tech Head Coach Mike Ester. “We are expecting big things from him.”
Brandon is a three-year varsity letter winner at Bedford in wrestling and football. Through his first three seasons on the mat, he has compiled a record of 107-28, and in 2012 he was named to the All-State Wrestling Team, the All-Region Wrestling Team by the Monroe Evening News, and Honorable Mention Michigan Grappler Dream Team.
As a junior, Brandon was the Division 1 State runner-up at 189-lbs finishing the season with a 48-6 record. During the same year, he was also the 2012 Grappler Fall Classic champion competing at 215-lbs and earned All-American honors at the NHSCA National Wrestling Duals in Virginia Beach.
"If Brandon steps up to the toughness of our training, his potential to reach the top of the NAIA wrestling podium is within reach, if he is passionately dedicated to wrestling at this level," Coach Ester added. "He should have an outstanding senior season and we will get him motivated in the offseason to prepare to come in and make an immediate impact in our program. Brandon will join high school teammate Logan Rimmer (285) and potentially they could be the 1-2 punch at the end of our line-up that can help us make a run at a national title next season.”
According to Michigangrappler.com, Brandon is currently ranked No. 1 in Division 1 at 215 and currently the No. 17 overall rated senior prospect out of the state of Michigan.
Brandon on why he chose Tech, “I chose Indiana Tech because I really liked the size of the campus and the positive things I heard about the criminal justice program. I look forward to continuing my wrestling career as an Indiana Tech Warrior and serving my role in contributing to the program’s goal of a national championship.”
