Fort Wayne, Ind. – The Indiana Tech wrestling team climbed two spots to No. 13 in the third regular season edition of the 2012-13 NAIA Wrestling Coaches’ Top 20 Poll, announced by the national office on Wednesday.

Since the last poll came out on Dec. 5, the Warriors went 2-2 at the Warrior Duals defeating No. 12 Cumberlands and No. RV Hannibal-LaGrange while nearly upsetting No. 13 Missouri Baptist and No. 5 Campbellsville.

Tech also competed at the 34th annual Midwest Classic Tournament where three grapplers placed in the top-7, including a runner-up finish by sophomore Travis Barroquillo (Wolcottville, IN/Prairie Heights).

Barroquillo was one of five Warrior wrestlers ranked in the NAIA Top-16 Individuals and he maintained his hold on the No. 5 spot at 133-lbs. Also standing pat were Tanner Martin (Ft. Wayne, IN/Snider), ranked No. 2 at 174-lbs, and Logan Rimmer (Temperance, MI/Bedford), ranked No. 14 at 285-lbs.

At 157-lbs, James Bennett (Bowden, GA/Darton) jumped three spots to No. 7. Bennett went unbeaten in three matches in the Warrior Duals, defeating three ranked opponents, and posted a 4-2 record at the Midwest Classic to earn a seventh place finish. Moving into the rankings for the first time was Justin Brooks (Warsaw, IN/Indiana), entering at No. 14 at 125-lbs.

The Warriors are idle until Jan. 5 when they travel to Campbellsville, Kentucky for the Campbellsville University Duals where Tech will face the University of Indianapolis and Lindenwood University-Belleville.

Following the Campbellsville Duals, Tech will travel to Springfield, Illinois for the NWCA National Duals on Jan. 12-13. Including Indiana Tech, 14 of the top-16 ranked teams will be competing that day for the National Dual Meet Championship.

The Warriors qualified for the National Dual Meet by placing 16th at the NAIA National Championships last season.
