Fort Wayne, Ind. – The National Wrestling Coaches Association has released the brackets for the 2013 NWCA/Cliff Keen Multi-Divisional National Duals and the Indiana Tech wrestling team will face off against the nation’s top team, and defending NAIA national champions, Grand View University to start the competition.
No. 1 Grand View enters the event with a perfect 4-0 record in dual meets this season, and is fresh off a 23-13 win over No. 7 Morningside College. In the latest poll, the Vikings had 12 grapplers ranked in the NAIA Wrestling Top 16 Individuals, including Derek Nightser who holds the No. 1 spot at 197-lbs.
Meanwhile, the No. 16 Warriors enter having won four of their last five dual meets, with the only loss coming at the hands of 5th ranked Campbellsville University. Most recently, Tech went unbeaten at the Campbellsville Duals with a pair of dominant victories.
The Warriors are led by the All-American duo of Travis Barroquillo (Wolcottville, IN/Prairie Heights) and Tanner Martin (Ft. Wayne, IN/Snider). Barroquillo comes in ranked No. 5 at 133-lbs and Martin at No. 8 at 174-lbs.
Also in the rankings for Tech are James Bennett (Bowden, GA/Darton) and Justin Brooks (Warsaw, IN/Indiana). Bennett holds the No. 7 spot at 157-lbs while Brooks has vaulted up the rankings in the last two polls and will enter at No. 10 at 125-lbs.
The first round of competition will start on Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Prairie Capital Convention Center in Springfield, Illinois. Live coverage of the event can be found at Trackwrestling.com.
