Warriors Finish 9th at Missouri Valley Invitational

Marshall, Mo. – The 16th ranked Indiana Tech wrestling team had five wrestlers place at the Missouri Valley College Invitational on Saturday where the Warriors finished ninth out of the 16 teams with 67.5 points. The event featured 10 teams either ranked or receiving votes in the NAIA Top 20 Poll.

Maryville University placed first with 163.0 points followed by No. 6 Oklahoma City University and No. 12 Baker University.

Freshman Darryl Grayson (Springfield, OH/Springfield) had a spectacular day pinning three opponents, two ranked, on his way to a second place finish at 174-lbs. In the championship match, Grayson was narrowly beaten by Maryville’s Nick Burghardt 5-3.

Finishing in sixth place were Travis Dragomer (Stevensville, MI/Lakeshore) at 141-lbs and Kelvin Jordan (Albany, GA/Darton) at 184-lbs, both with matching 3-3 records. Sidney Logan (Mishawaka, IN/Mishawaka) and Grayson Smith (Ossian, IN/Norwell) posted 2-2 records, earning seventh place finishes.

The Warriors return to the mat on Saturday, Jan. 26 in Des Moines, Iowa for the Grand View University Open hosted by No. 1 Grand View.
