Tech’s Richardson Featured in FC London Newsletter

June 6, 2013

For Immediate Release

Fort Wayne, Ind. – Indiana Tech goalkeeper Reece Richardson was recently spotlighted in the Forest City London Soccer Club May 2013 newsletter.

Richardson made 20 starts for FC London in 2012 helping lead the team to its first PDL championship. The Premier Development League (PDL) is the pro development league of the United Soccer Leagues, the top-level men’s amateur soccer competition in the United States.

About to begin his senior campaign at Tech, Richardson has been outstanding in goal for the Warriors over the past two seasons. The 6-6 netminder has anchored a defense that has ranked at the top of the conference in goals allowed per game, surrendering 1.83 in 2011 and 1.00 in 2012, and has posted 10 shutouts during that span.

Richardson earned a spot on the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-Mideast Region Second Team and was named to the WHAC Honorable Mention Team following the 2012 season. He posted seven shutouts with 93 saves and ranked second in the conference allowing 0.94 goals per game.

FC London Newsletter – May 2013 Edition 3

Goalkeeper Reece Richardson is returning for a second year with FC LONDON. He is happy to be back for a second season and is looking forward to defending the Championship title

Reece grew up in Halifax, West Yorkshire, England with a father who play rugby. He realized at a young age that he didn't want to play a sport that was so rough, so he started playing soccer. When he was about 14 years old Richardson was on a team and he didn't like the goalkeeper so he asked his coach to try him out. He says that being 6'7" tall makes it a little easier to have a large presence in net.

Reece said that when it comes to his personality on the field he "is more aggressive on the field than off the field." He also mentioned that he values communicating with fellow players as one of his assets in the game.

Going into his final year at Indiana Tech Reece has been recognized as an asset to the Warrior Athletics. Some of his achievements include Warrior of the Month, two time recipient of WHAC Men's Soccer Defensive player of the Week, and most recently was named Most Valuable Player for his team this year.

With his impressive résumé and his team player personality, Reece Richardson is definitely a good player to have on FC LONDON.

The Warriors will scrimmage the University of Saint Francis on Aug. 17 and the University of Indianapolis on Aug. 23 before opening the regular season at home against Mount Vernon Nazarene University on Aug. 28 at 7 p.m.
