<p><strong>Fort Wayne, Ind.</strong> – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics has released the first and second round pairings for the 2013 NAIA Women’s Golf National Championships. The 19th annual event will take place at Wilderness Ridge Golf Club in Lincoln, Neb., May 21– 24. </p>
<p>Indiana Tech’s <a href="/Athletics/wgolf/Pages/garrisonm.aspx">Megan Garrison</a>, who won WHAC Individual Medalist honors, will begin her quest for a national title off the No. 10 tee at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 21. She is paired with Coastal Georgia’s Christian Liggin and College of Idaho’s Trish Gibbens in the first round. </p>
<p>Second round action will begin on Wednesday afternoon for Garrison, teeing off No. 1 at 3 p.m. along with Liggin and Gibbens. </p>
<p>Garrison earned a spot on the All-WHAC First Team for the fourth time in her career after finishing with an 80.57 average in conference play. She finished in the top-10 11 times and in the top-5 ten times this season while also winning four tournaments. </p>
<p>For the first time ever, the Women’s Golf National Championships will be video-streamed. There will be two cameras covering action at the Wilderness Ridge Golf Club, positioned at holes No. 9 and 18. The broadcast is made possible by the Doane College Athletic Department and the Tiger Sports Network. </p>

      <title>Garrison Earns First Team All-WHAC Honors</title>

<p><strong>Fort Wayne, Ind.</strong> – Senior <a href="/Athletics/wgolf/Pages/garrisonm.aspx">Megan Garrison</a>, the most decorated golfer in program history, closed out her spectacular career at Indiana Tech by claiming her fourth First Team All-Conference honor announced by the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference following the 2013 WHAC Championship. </p>
<p>All-Conference honors were determined by the lowest conference average in the regular season and postseason events. </p>
<p>Garrison saved her best for last winning the WHAC Individual Medalist in her senior campaign averaging an 80.57 per round during conference play. Overall this year she finished in the top-10 11 times and in the top-5 ten times. Garrison also won four tournaments, including a stretch of three in a row during the fall. </p>
<p>Her name litters the Indiana Tech record book, owning the top school mark for 18-holes (72) and 36-holes (148), as well as being a member of teams that set school standards for 18-holes (315), 36-holes (655), and 54-holes (1029). </p>
<p>By virtue of winning the WHAC Individual Medalist honor, Garrison will represent Indiana Tech in the 2013 National Championship at Wilderness Ridge Golf Club in Lincoln, Nebraska on May 21-24. </p>
<p>Three student-athletes received All-Academic Team recognition. Earning the award was <a href="/Athletics/wgolf/Pages/clousek.aspx">Katie Clouse</a>, Megan Garrison, and <a href="/Athletics/wgolf/Pages/mettertc.aspx">Tina Mettert</a>. To qualify, an athlete must achieve a 3.25 or better GPA and be a junior or above in academic standing. </p>
<p>Mettert was also chosen for the Champions of Character Team. This award is for the athletes that best exemplify the five core characteristics of the NAIA – integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership. </p>

      <title>Tech Finishes Fourth at WHAC Championship</title>

<p><strong>Comstock Park, Mich.</strong> – The Indiana Tech women’s golf team wrapped up their season on Tuesday with a fourth place finish at the WHAC Championship hosted by the conference regular season champions Aquinas College at Scott Lake Country Club. </p>
<p>The Warriors ended the first round in fifth place with a 360, but climbed one spot over the final day of competition turning in a 336 to finish with a 36-hole total of 696. </p>
<p>Madonna University won the event with a 651 followed by Aquinas and Davenport University with a 677 and 686, respectively. </p>
<p>While the team’s season may be over, senior <a href="/Athletics/wgolf/Pages/garrisonm.aspx">Megan Garrison</a> will play on after earning a trip to the 2013 NAIA National Championship by capturing WHAC Individual Medalist honors for the 2012-13 season. The honor goes to the individual with the lowest average round score with a minimum of seven conference rounds played. Garrison averaged an 80.57 this season to edge MU’s Michelle Hall and AQ’s Abby Hagan by less than one stroke. </p>
<p>Garrison finished second overall to lead the Warriors at the WHAC Championship, her 10th top-5 finish of the season. She bounced back from an opening round 84 with a 76 over the final 18-holes to end with a 160, just six shots back of tournament champion Michelle Hall. </p>
<p><a href="/Athletics/wgolf/Pages/browningj.aspx">Julia Browning</a> landed in 15th place with a 36-hole total score of 177 (92/85) while the rest of the Warrior team finished between 22nd and 26th. <a href="/Athletics/wgolf/Pages/clousek.aspx">Katie Clouse</a> carded a 181 (93/88), <a href="/Athletics/wgolf/Pages/georger.aspx">Rachel George</a> finished with a 182 (95/87), <a href="/Athletics/wgolf/Pages/larsonh.aspx">Haley Larson</a> a 184 (91/93), and <a href="/Athletics/wgolf/Pages/mettertc.aspx">Tina Mettert</a> a 184 (94/90). </p>
<p>Garrison will begin her quest for a national title on May 21 at the 19th Annual Women’s Golf National Championship held at Wilderness Ridge Golf Club in Lincoln, Nebraska. The 72-hole tournament runs from May 21-24. </p>
