Season Preview

The Indiana Tech Warriors cross country team is coming off a very successful 2010 season. Coach Wolfe will once again be looking to lead the distance runners to National level performances. The team loses very few key members from the outstanding season. The biggest losses will come with Mika Davis, Kara Van Horn, and Alyssa Webb all completing their senior seasons last year. The cross country team will look to senior Veronica Jersey and sophomore Becca Lamb to form a dynamic 1-2 punch. Others that will play significant roles include transfers Allycia Gaffer (IPFW) and Amanda Raley (Glendalle CC), and a group of returning athletes in Domi Elizondo-Smith, Preosha Graham-Coats, Hilary Snyder, Leah Blakemore and Ashley Satterfield.

The men’s team, much like the women’s, returns almost nearly intact from last season. Once again Cross Country seems to be the hardest hit from graduation with Derek Holst and John Wainwight graduating from last year’s squad. The team will be very young and may redshirt some of its upper classmen as the younger athletes learn how to run at the college level. Look for a big year from sophomore Aaron Belcher, senior Micky Nelson, and redshirt freshman Michael Whyde.

Coach Wolfe on this years Squad: "It's going to be a very exciting season. We feel like we are moving in the right direction with the program and have quality, hard working athletes in place. The men's team will be very young, but should show great improvement. Our women's team has the potential to have a great pack, we just need one or two ladies to step up and be front runners for us. We would like to continue our accademic success from last season as the ladies were Academic All-American as a team."

The Warriors will open their season on September 10th at the IPFW Invite.
