Jill Claus

Get to know Coach Karasek

Coach Karasek has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, Ohio, and an MBA from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois.

Ed Karasek played varsity lacrosse at Bowling Green under the legendary soccer and lacrosse coach, Mickey Cochrane. In Ed's final year at Bowling Green, the lacrosse team posted a record of 11-1, beating great teams such as Hobart, Loyola, Michigan, Notre Dame, Michigan State, Ohio State, Oberlin, Kenyon, Wittenburg, etc., losing only to Dennison.

In recent years, Coach Karasek has coached hockey at many levels, including travel, and also has tutored individuals in the sport of lacrosse on a one-on-one basis.

Ed is a student of the game of lacrosse and is a student in the art of coaching and has a thorough understanding of Women's Lacrosse. The Women's Lacrosse Program will simulate the positive coaching techniques of Coach Janine Tucker, Head Coach of Women's Lacrosse at Johns Hopkins University.

"My plan is to have a positive impact on each player, understanding that academics are most important. Athletics and sportsmanship, however, will enhance the individual's overall character, level of confidence, fitness, and personal identity. Together we will build a winning tradition in Women's Lacrosse at Indiana Tech."

Coach Claus graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and a minor in Psychology.

Being an excellent athlete herself, Coach Claus currently holds a Level 1 Coaching Certificate in women’s lacrosse. She is a practicing umpire who is qualified to referee women’s lacrosse at the collegiate level. Claus, being a women’s lacrosse umpire, brings a keen understanding of the rules to the team, which is a serious advantage.

Among other attributes, Claus identifies individual talent and determines which players have good chemistry, as well as counseling and advising regarding any personal player needs.
