ACC 3800 Investments

Course Description: Investments ACC 3800 is a course in investments, portfolio theory and security analysis. It is intended for those who may manage personal funds, the funds of a corporation or who may need to raise funds in capital markets. Traditional fundamental analysis, Capital Market Theory, Efficient Market Hypothesis and the Capital Asset Pricing Model will be reviewed.

Textbook: Gitman and Joehnk, Fundamentals of Investing, Harper-Collins

Prerequisites: ACC 2140 Managerial Accounting

Specific Concepts to Address: The student's portfolio must reflect an understanding of investments and managing funds by addressing:

  • The nature of investments
  • Portfolio theory
  • Security analysis
  • Fundamental analysis
  • Captial Market Theory
  • Efficient Market Hypothesis
  • Capital Asset Pricing Model
  • Raising funds in capital markets
