BA 2410 Human Resource Management

Course Description: Human Resource Management presents a directed study of the main functions involved in the management of human resources. In addition, and intensive review of past and current legislation will be examined along with current practices and trends.

Textbook: Managing Human Resources; Jackson & Schuler. Thompson/Southwestern.

Prerequisite: BA 2010 Principles of Management

Specific Concepts to Address:

  • Strategic importance of human resource management (HRM)
  • Context and activities of HRM
  • Legal system and HRM ยท Human resource planning process
  • Importance of a human resource information system (HRIS)

Suggested Emphases:

  • Distinguish the generalist duties of all managers compared to the specific functions of an HR professional

  • Job descriptions for each human resource position held
  • Recent performance evaluation with applicable signatures
  • Letter from immediate supervisor documenting your human resource position
  • Documentation of relevant training courses that have been completed (i.e. certificates)
