FORT WAYNE, IND. -- Indiana Tech has hired Al Grushkin as head coach of the men’s basketball team. Grushkin brings three decades of coaching, recruiting, and scouting experience to the position.
Since 2008, Grushkin has been evaluating college prospects for the NBA as a scout for Marty Blake and Associates. Prior to moving into the scouting role, he was first assistant coach at Arkansas State University from 2006 to 2008 and served as interim head coach at the end of the 2008 season.
“We are pleased to have a coach with Al’s experience,” said Athletic Director Jeff Walker. “He’s a proven winner and should lead the Indiana Tech basketball program to new levels of success.”
Grushkin’s additional coaching experience includes six years as head coach at University of the Incarnate Word and assistant coaching positions at University of Texas, Idaho State University, Western Illinois University, University of Arkansas, University of Tulsa, and Georgia State University
Before joining the collegiate coaching ranks, Grushkin set school records for wins and tournament advancement as head basketball coach at Bishop Byrne High School in Memphis, Tenn.
Grushkin earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Oglethorpe University and a master’s degree in physical education from Georgia State University.
