Fort Wayne, Ind.—To encourage physical fitness, Indiana Tech has added marked walking trails to its main campus.
“We wanted to do something to inspire people to move around more by offering convenient trails that they may already be walking on a daily basis,” explained Kirsta Solberg, director of Indiana Tech’s Wellness Center. “The trails can help make this more intentional and make people aware that making so many loops around the campus per day could increase the number of miles they are walking per day.”
There are four trails marked on the Indiana Tech campus, and each is represented by a color and name on wooden posts along the way:
Solberg has organized a poker walk to celebrate the recent installation of the trail markers. The event from 5:15 to 7 p.m. Thursday, September 20, will give participants a chance to explore the new trails while competing for prizes. Free T-shirts will be available while supplies last.
Maps of the campus walking trails are available at the Wellness Center (inside the Schaefer Center) or online.
