Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering, Bachelor of Science
The industrial and manufacturing engineering (IME) degree provides you with the skills required to positively impact a company’s bottom line. This is accomplished through a study of those topics which directly contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of an organization’s manufacturing operations, such as simulation, lean manufacturing, quality management, automation, safety, and environmental issues.
The industrial and manufacturing engineering program prepares you for a common sense approach to problem solving by combining both technical and managerial skills.
The Bachelor of Science in Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering is designed for adults working or planning to work in a manufacturing environment. The course work includes topics such as shop floor layout, lean manufacturing techniques, Theory of Constraints, understanding regulatory requirements (OSHA, EPA, etc.), utilizing quality systems and measures to drive improvement, Integrated Resource Management and profitability assessment for proposed projects.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, industrial and manufacturing engineering job opportunities are expected to be good, and starting salaries are among the highest of all college graduates.
