Warrior Orientation 2013

Orientation is a mandatory event for all incoming freshmen.

August 25-28, 2013

The transition to college does not have to be a difficult one. Warrior Orientation is designed to help acclimate incoming students to the Indiana Tech way of life. Our goal is to make your transition of becoming a Warrior as smooth and seamless as possible.

Residence Hall Check-In

Andorfer Commons Concession Stand

All residential students should report to the Andorfer Commons Concession Stand to check-in to the residence halls, sign their housing contract, and obtain their room keys.

Move-In Oasis

Andorfer Commons Dining Hall

Refresh your body with a cool beverage, enjoy some fun music, and get additional information from various campus groups and local businesses to get a glimpse of the opportunities that lie ahead. Beat the heat and cool down at the Student Life Move-In Oasis!

Parent "Sessions"

Andorfer Commons, Magee-O'Connor Theater

This session gives parents the opportunity to talk about their dreams for their students with other parents and gather important information in making a smooth transition to the role of "the parent of a college student."

Andorfer Commons Dining Hall

Students and families can take a break from unpacking to enjoy a complimentary home-cooked meal in our dining hall.

Commuter Check–In

Andorfer Commons Concession Stand

All commuting students should report to check-in located in front of the Magee-O'Connor Theater in Andorfer Commons for their oreintation schedule. We have a lot of fun planned for you as well!

Warrior Welcome

President Arthur E. Snyder will extend a warm welcome to all new students of the Indiana Tech family. Following the address, students will be divided into their orientation groups for a brief meeting before heading to the Warrior Luau! You will be with your orientation group throughout the next two days, so it's very important that you attend the welcome address.

You will meet your orientation leader and get to know others in your group. Orientation leaders will discuss the fun activities and events Tech has planned for you, and they will help you get acclimated to campus.

Students, faculty, & staff are invited to kick off the new year together at our annual luau. Good food, good fun … good vibes.

Any student who has not registered for classes is required to attend registration. Students will activate their Indiana Tech student accounts, take math and English placement exams, and meet with an academic advisor to register for classes.

Abbot Center

Students who still need to set up a payment plan, make a tuition payment, or complete other paper work through the Business Office or Financial Aid Office should visit their admissions counselor in the Abbott Center.

Join us in Scully Square for this opportunity to sample the best cuisine that Fort Wayne has to offer! Local restaurants will be on campus to give you a little taste of their fine fare.

College Meetings

Various Locations

Representatives from our distinctive academic colleges will be available to provide you with an overview of your degree program, as well as information about classes and other educational opportunities. This session is a chance for you to meet with faculty, get to know other students in your degree program, and get acclimated to academic life.

English Write-Out Opportunity

TBD

The English Write-Out Session is an opportunity for students who tested into ENG 1100 to potentially write into ENG 1250. All you need is a pencil!

Open Recreation Center

Recreation Center

Need to cool off until the movie? Visit the Rec Center in the lower level of Andorfer Commons for some billards, air hockey, ping pong and more! It's the perfect hang out and a great way to meet people.

Come watch "Scary Movie 5" at 7 p.m. or 9 p.m. You will laugh until you cry!

New Athlete Heart Screening

Andorfer Commons
Rooms 205, 206 & 207

New student-athletes are required to attend the new ethlete heart screening. Student-athletes who have already completed a heart screen or who are scheduled to complete a heart screen before August 31 are not required to attend. This is the only exception.

Indiana Tech will come to feel like a home away from home, whether you live on campus or not! During this session, you'll learn about Tech’s student support services, campus life activities and events, student organizations and intramural teams, and other campus resources. Come meet the people who will help you succeed while you "Occupy Tech"!

Have lunch with us in the dining hall! You can eat with your orientation group, or you can breakaway and dine with some new faces!

Floor/Commuter Meeting

Residence Hall floors/Andorfer 207 (commuters)

Residential students will meet their resident assistant (RA) to discuss the rules for living in the residence halls, while commuting students will get to know one another and learn how to get involved in student life and other on-campus activities.

Warrior Games

Welcome to the Warrior Games! During Warrior Games, you and your residence hall floor will have the chance to participate in a fun atmosphere against other residence halls. You'll be able to display your skills and earn this year's bragging rights in several team activities like tug-of-war, dodgeball, and kickball.

Dining Hall Hours

Following are the hours that the dining hall, located in Andorfer Commons, is open. More information can be found on the dining hall web page.

Regular hours for the 2013-14 year are:

Monday through Friday

  • Hot breakfast: 7:15 to 9 a.m.
  • Continental breakfast: 9 to 10:30 a.m.
  • Lite lunch options (deli, salad, pizza): 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Full lunch menu: 11:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m.
  • Lite dinner options (deli, salad, pasta): 4 to 5 p.m.
  • Full dinner menu: 5 to 7 p.m.
  • Warrior Pizza (meal exchange option for dinner conflicts): 8 to 11:30 p.m.

Saturday and Sunday

  • Brunch: 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.
  • Dinner: 5 to 6:15 p.m.
