Paralegal Studies, Bachelor of Science
As described by the American Bar Association a legal assistant or paralegal is a person, qualified by education, training or work experience who is employed or retained by a lawyer, law office, corporation, governmental agency or other entity and who performs specifically delegated substantive legal work for which a lawyer is responsible.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics notes that paralegals are found in all types of organizations, and work in many different areas of the law, including litigation, personal injury, corporate law, criminal law, employee benefits, intellectual property, labor law, bankruptcy, immigration, family law, and real estate. The Bureau of Labor Statistics note that the demand for paralegals will continue to grow at a rate much faster than the average for all occupations through the projected year of 2018.
