Recreation Therapy, Bachelor of Science
Minors that pair well with recreation therapy are:
Coaching & Human Performance
As the healthcare field grows and evolves, medical professionals are developing more enjoyable activities for their patients. Using a variety of techniques, such as arts and crafts, animals, sports, games, dance and movement, drama, music, and community outings, therapists improve and maintain the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of their patients.
Professionals in the field of recreation therapy use technology like the Nintendo Wii to help patients regain and build hand-eye coordination; use active sports such as football to develop or progress socialization, coordination, and physical exercise; and use games such as Scrabble to improve cognitive skills. Therapeutic recreation professionals can work with people of all ages and are able to specialize in specific fields.
The coursework of Indiana Tech’s recreation therapy degree also will prepare you for the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification® exam.
