Assisting First-Year Students
Tech LEADS (Learn, Experience, Achieve, Develop, Succeed) in Indiana Tech’s academic support program designed specifically for first-year students. The key to college success and graduation is learned during your freshman year. Tech LEADS is here to give you the tools you need to succeed.
Learning Communities
You will take classes with the same group of peers throughout your freshman year.
Class-Connected Projects and Assignments
Class assignments in English would relate to the topics you discuss in your psychology class.
Smaller Class Sizes
Your average class size will be between 17 and 23 students.
Group and Individual Advising Sessions
You will meet in your Learning Community and Individually with you advisor throughout your freshman year to discuss and gain insight on the challenges that college life can present.
Math and English Consultants
Get the assistance that you need outside of class from professors and peer tutors.
Leadership Development
Learn the skills you need to be able to step forward and become a leader.
Extra-Curricular Activities
“Members Only” events held throughout the year as well as the Wicked Wednesday, Flippin' Fab Friday, L3, and University Forum events.
Co-curricular Activities
Participate in events that are connected to class assignments.
Student Awards and Incentives
Earn individual and group awards for achievements.
Who is eligible?
To be eligible for Tech LEADS you will need to place into the following courses:
- ENG1100: Basic English
- MA1000: Foundations of College Mathematics
You may also place into:
- ENG1000: Developmental Reading
