Sherrill Hamman

Welcome to my personal web site. I'm an old timer at Indiana Tech having worked at the university since 1976 when I graduated from Ball State University. I love it here -- the people, the environment, and the job.

I typically teach the freshman level accounting courses, although I have, on occasion, taught an upper level accounting course or a business administration course. While I enjoy the traditional student (18 - 22 year olds), I also find the students in the accelerated program to be fun to work with as they have had more life experiences and, therefore, have more questions about how a specific topic fits their lives.

On a personal level...

I've been married to my husband, Dave, since 1975 and have raised two wonderful children.

Our daughter, Shawn, married her college sweetheart, Mike, in 2001 and they gave us a “grandpuppy” (a boxer named Myles) later that year. He was spoiled rotten until they gave us our first grandchild (Tyler) on October 3, 2006. Myles became a dog at that point but I’m still not sure that he understands that :).

Our son, Ryan, married his high school sweetheart, Christin, in 2003 and they gave us twins (Aleena and Jayden) two weeks after Tyler was born -- on October 17, 2006 – and a third grandchild, Beckett, on April 14, 2010. It remains to be seen how Beckett will fit into the “pack” of Tyler, Aleena, and Jayden, but we know he’ll make his mark somehow.

We are lucky to have all of our children and grandchildren living in Fort Wayne so we see them regularly. I love every minute of being "nana" to these four wonderful children!!!

In addition to spoiling these grandchildren, I am involved in several volunteer positions in the Fort Wayne community: I have a regular shift at Ronald McDonald House, I am a lunch buddy in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program, I serve on the board of Public Service Credit Union, I serve as a leader in the Northeast Indiana Discipleship Walk Community, and I am a member of several committees at The Chapel.

I look forward to many more years at Indiana Tech. Our landscape is changing, our academic programs are expanding, our student body is increasing, and our reputation is growing. If you're currently a student you can see the excitement on campus. If you're not a student, come check us out!
