Make your plans to attend Indiana Tech's Alumni Weekend: 2011 Homecoming event today. More information can be found on our Homecoming page
For many of you, Alumni Weekend might be the first time you really experience the Indiana Tech campus in Fort Wayne, at least in its current state. Some of you graduated prior to the purchase of the current campus in 1957 and others earned your degree through one of the satellite campuses through our College of Professional Studies. And even if you graduated in the last few years, you may not have seen the many new buildings that have been constructed and older buildings that have been remodeled. The Fort Wayne campus of Indiana Tech has really grown into quite the beautiful university setting! And visiting during this fantastic weekend would truly provide you with the opportunity to experience Indiana Tech again – for the first time!
This year, we are trying to create some new traditions through the addition of several new, or new and improved, events and activities geared toward our recent graduates and current students. Of course, there are still many tried and true events that you have come to love and expect, too. For a complete listing of all of this year’s events and activities, please visit our Homecoming web site. However, following are a few highlights of the upcoming Alumni Weekend.
After a one-year hiatus due to the 80th Gala Celebration last year, the President’s Club Dinner is back on Thursday, September 15, at the Fort Wayne Country Club. This is a wonderful evening prepared especially for those donors who contribute $1,000 or more to Indiana Tech in the current fiscal year. To be sure you’re included in this group, please contact Mike Peterson, director of alumni relations at 800.937.2448, ext. 2418 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Friday events will include, TECHnology 101, which will provide an informative session entitled "Following Your Digital Trail: A primer on information protection for users of phones, iPads, Androids, home computers, work computers, ATMs or any other digital medium”, presented by Professor Julie Mansfield and members of our nationally recognized Cyber Defense Team. Another highlight of Friday night is the annual Alumni Banquet featuring presentations of the Graduate of the Last Decade, Alumnus of the Year, College of Professional Studies Alumnus of the Year, Alumni Volunteer of the Year, and Alumni Hall of Fame inductee, in addition to honoring members of the Class of 1961. A new and improved addition to Friday night’s activities will be a late night party in the Indiana Tech Recreation Center, featuring a DJ, bowling, food, and more!
On Saturday, there will be the ever-popular Breakfast with the President, a new luncheon for those folks who have started a scholarship at Tech and the students who received them, and the 3rd Annual Warrior Cruise In featuring a live band. The day will close with an exciting new event – '70s Flashback Party – to be held on the outdoor patio of the new Courtyard by Marriott Downtown and inside Champions Restaurant and Sports Bar. This event will include live music, food, drinks, and prizes, and all are encouraged to come dressed in their best outfits from the ‘70s era!
Alumni Weekend will conclude on Sunday, September 18, with the TWIST XXII Golf Outing, which has been moved to one of Fort Wayne’s premier golf courses, Chestnut Hills! For more information on this or any other Homecoming events, please contact Mike Peterson at 800.937.2448, ext. 2418 or email@example.com. You may also visit the Homecoming web site.
Here’s hoping we see you on campus in September!
