Tech professor receives national award
This popular professor has been recognized again for his excellence as both an academician and an advisor. A leader from another university was quoted as saying that Indiana Tech’s HR curriculum is "on the cutting edge academically."
Jeffrey Walls, Professor of Business Administration at Indiana Tech.
When students in the school of business at Indiana Tech are asked to name their favorite professor, one name seems to be at or near the top of most lists: Dr. Jeffrey Walls. Walls loves to be involved in the lives of his students outside of the classroom as well as in the classroom. He can be seen at many of the sporting events on campus, he is actively involved as faculty advisor to the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity, he is co-founder of the Trask/Walls Invitational Student Tournament (TWIST) Golf Outing in which he plays every year, and he is a regular attendee at most Fort Wayne area alumni events. If there’s anyone who truly bleeds orange and black, it would have to be Dr. Walls.
Known around Indiana Tech as a fantastic professor and leader, Dr. Walls is also recognized nationally, particularly in human resource circles. His HR teams have won the national competition for the past three years, and he has one of the largest contingencies at the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) national convention each year. This year, his leadership skills have earned him a very special award: 2011 SHRM Advisor of the Year. Being recognized at the national level by his peers with this honor is quite an accomplishment.
