Get to know Coach Bokhart

David Bokhart was named Head Men’s Soccer Coach at Indiana Tech in July 2011. During his first season with the Warriors, the team finished with a record of 10-5-3 and finished among the top programs in the NAIA in modified RPI. Tech saw five student-athletes earn places on the All-WHAC teams, include first team performers Elliott Everson, a midfielder, and defender Mark Baptist, who also earned WHAC Defensive Player of the Year, All-Region, and NAIA All-America honors. Warriors earned WHAC Player of the Week accolades on six different occasions in 2011, with sophomore goalkeeper Reece Richardson leading the way, earning three league Player of the Week awards.

Prior to arriving at Tech, Bokhart was the head coach at Saint Joseph’s College since November 2006. At Saint Joseph’s, he guided the Pumas to a 17-15-3 record between 2009 and 2010 following a successful rebuilding effort in 2007 and 2008. Bokhart also helped lead a dedicated team in the classroom, with 43 players earning Academic All-Great Lakes Valley (GLVC) recognition during his time with Saint Joseph’s. He also coached three NSCAA All-Region performers and the 2007 GLVC Freshman-of-the-Year. His SJC teams were consistently ranked in the NSCAA Midwest Region Top 10. The Pumas also earned the 2009 GLVC Sportsmanship Award for Men’s Soccer.

Before his tenure at Saint Joseph’s, Bokhart was an assistant men’s soccer coach at the University of Saint Francis between 2003 and 2006. Bokhart also served as Communication Manager for the National Soccer Coaches Association of America in Mission, Kansas, which followed a year as a media relations assistant with the University of Kansas athletic department.

Bokhart, a Fort Wayne native, earned a bachelor’s degree in Communication from Purdue University in 2000, and received his Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Saint Francis in December 2006.

Bokhart was a four-year member and two-year captain of the Boilermaker men’s soccer club team, which qualified for three NIRSA National Championships during his career. He was a four-year varsity letter winner at Bishop Luers High School from 1992-95.

He currently serves as the National Chair of the NSCAA/adidas Youth Boys All-America program, and holds an NSCAA Premier Coaching Diploma. Bokhart is the State Technical Director for the NSCAA’s Coaching Education program and assists several local clubs as a trainer throughout the year. His summer college camp experience includes Eastern Illinois University, University of Evansville, University of Notre Dame, and Valparaiso University.

Bokhart and his wife, Heather, have three children: Alex (18), Paxton (13), and Jaxon (12).

Everson joined the Indiana Tech men’s soccer coaching staff on August 1, 2012, after completing a decorated four-year career with the Warriors. The Horsmonden, England, native finished his career with 23 goals and 21 assists in 74 career matches. A three-time All-WHAC honoree (2009, 2010, 2011), he was the Warriors’ Offensive MVP the past two seasons as well.

Everson holds coaching badges from the English FA and will be involved in all aspects of the technical and tactical direction of the team. He will head the Warrior Soccer Academy Centre of Excellence program, which will kick off in January 2013. A 2012 Business Administration graduate, he will continue his studies toward an MBA at Tech, beginning with the Fall 2012 semester.

Josh Verhulst

Verhulst enters his third year on the Warrior staff, his second with current head coach David Bokhart. He is responsible for the programs goalkeeper training and assists with team training and match day duties. He works as a trainer with the Fort Wayne Fever academy.

Verhulst completed a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in 2010 and earned an MBA in 2012, both at Indiana Tech. He was a two-year starter for the Warriors, guiding the 2009 team to the NAIA National Championships with his outstanding performances in goal. He earned All-WHAC recognition twice and ranks amongst the top goalkeepers in program history.

A Grand Rapids, Michigan, native, Verhulst resides in Fort Wayne and is engaged to be married on September 15, 2012, to Robbie Clark.

Gerald Dogan

Dogan is a Cincinnati, Ohio, product and a 2012 graduate of Indiana Tech with a degree in Business Administration. Dogan is a four-year member of the Warrior Soccer program, making his first team debut in the 3-1 win at Concordia last October.

Dogan will direct Tech’s strength and conditioning efforts and serve as a coach for the Warrior Reserves. Dogan resides in Fort Wayne.

Jonathan Lee

Well-known in the Fort Wayne soccer community, Lee competed at Wayne High School and crosstown rival University of Saint Francis. He has been a facility manager, trainer, youth soccer coach for many years and is an active participant in local amateur leagues.

He previously directed Indiana Tech’s Reserves team from 2009 to 2011, but will serve as a part-time first team assistant in 2012.

Lee resides in Ossian, Indiana, with his wife Jen, and two daughters, Grace and Autumn.

Zach Lamb

Lamb is a native of Grass Lake, Michigan, and will complete a Business Management degree in December. He was a four-year member of the team, an active part of the University community and a dedicated contributor to the Warrior program. He currently manages Tech Treasures, the spirit store in Andorfer Commons.

Lamb will assist with training and administrative duties for both the Warrior First Team and Reserves this season.

Lamb resides in Fort Wayne.
