October 1, 2018

The entire Indiana Tech community is saddened by the passing of two of its students in an automobile accident that occurred in Fort Wayne during the early morning hours of Sept. 29, 2018. Aaron Porter, a junior from Marion, Illinois, majoring in exercise science, and Teshan Godwin, a freshman from South Bend, Indiana, majoring in business, lost their lives during the accident.

“The deaths of Aaron and Teshan affect the entire Indiana Tech community deeply. All of us send our sympathies and prayers to Aaron and Teshan’s parents, family and friends. We give thanks for both of their lives and for the brilliance and vitality that they brought to our community. May they both rest in peace. We will keep our memories of Aaron and Teshan alive in our hearts,” said Indiana Tech president Karl W. Einolf.

Two additional Indiana Tech students were hospitalized for injuries related to the accident and continue receiving medical care for their injuries.

A memorial service for Aaron Porter and Teshan Godwin will take place on the Indiana Tech campus, at the outdoor fireplace outside of the Abbott Center, on Monday, Oct. 1, at 7 p.m.
