Michelin’s Tech Scholar program offers students an opportunity to earn an associate degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology from Indiana Tech TUITION-FREE.

Who is eligible for the Michelin Tech Scholar program?

High school juniors and seniors who have a passion for mechanical engineering. You must pass a pre-employment aptitude test given by Michelin in order to be considered for the program.

What types of questions are on the aptitude test?

Students who are interested in this program must pass a pre-employment aptitude test given by Michelin in order to be considered. Tests are offered at Indiana Tech three times a year. Knowledge and skills that will be tested include:

  • Four function math and basic algebra to solve for unknown variables
  • Area and volume of various shapes (rectangles, squares, circles and cylinders)
  • Ratios and proportion
  • Right angle trigonometry
  • Identify hand tools, power tools and measuring tools that are used in mechanical and electrical trades
  • Concepts of electrical theory, gear theory and shaft/bearing theory

Students are given 45 minutes to complete the aptitude test. It is multiple choice and contains 50 questions.

What is the Mechanical Engineering Technology program at Indiana Tech like?

If a hands-on application of mechanical engineering principles and skills is appealing to you, consider an associate degree in mechanical engineering technology. What is required of students who participate in the program?

You must be able to work 20 hours a week at Michelin’s BF Goodrich Tire Plant in Woodburn, Indiana, while taking a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester at Indiana Tech and maintaining a 2.5 GPA.
