Charity hoops contest coming up at Tech’s Schaefer Center

November 4, 2015

Indiana Tech’s Schaefer Center will be the site of the Unity in the Community Charity Classic basketball game on Thursday, Nov. 12, from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Tickets are $3; $2 with the donation of a canned good. All proceeds from the event will go to benefit Boys & Girls Clubs of Fort Wayne, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Indiana and Community Harvest Food Bank.

The Fort Wayne Police Department and Fort Wayne Fire Department basketball teams will engage in friendly competition against young players in the community, including teams that participate in programs at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Fort Wayne, Big Brothers Big Sisters and the YMCA.

In addition to benefitting the Boys & Girls Clubs of Fort Wayne, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Indiana and Community Harvest Food Bank, the goal of event coordinators is to build a positive relationship between public safety organizations and urban communities. The FWPD, FWFD and Cities United believe that opening a dialogue with their constituents is a vital step toward building a stronger community, a safer city and brighter futures for all.
