Warrior Golf Classic 2025 Recap
Indiana Tech hosted the inaugural Warrior Golf Classic, benefiting the Department of Athletics, on Friday, October 3, 2025, at Orchard Ridge Country Club in Fort Wayne. Part of the institution’s annual Homecoming celebration, the event drew 35 foursomes consisting of Alumni, campus constituents, and corporate partners, among other guests.
“Tech is so pleased that so many of our corporate partners, alumni, and friends helped to launch this event,” Indiana Tech Vice President for Institutional Advancement Terri Law commented. “Their support will improve the experience of each student-athlete at Indiana Tech, and we are grateful for their generosity.”
The team of KB Blanchard, Bailey Marquart, Jordan Meeks, and Wyatt Larkin carded an 18-hole score of 54 (-17) in the Florida Scramble tournament to take home top honors. O’Neal Excavating & Construction, Inc., and its golfers Scott Chaffee, John Kunze, Doug O’Neal, and Stefan Peters placed second with a score of 56 (-15). Custer Inc., rounded out the top three at -14 (57) on the strength of foursome Josh Ambrose ’13, ’15 (BS Business Administration, MBA), Jeff Harter ’13 (BS Business Administration), TJ Pressley ’12 (BS Recreation Management), and Josh Puckett ’14, ’14, ‘16 (BS Business Administration, BS Accounting, MBA).
“You can’t beat a beautiful day on the golf course for a good cause,” Ambrose said. “It was fantastic to see so many alumni coming out to support Tech! I always look forward to this time of year as a great opportunity to catch up with old friends, cross paths with professors and staff, all while getting to help support the future and growth of Indiana Tech. I can’t wait for next year!”
Individually, Richard Street won Closest to the Pin on ORCC’s showpiece par three 17th hole. Ron Stewart piped the Men’s Longest Drive on #10, while Sarah Frazier outdistanced the competition with the Women’s Longest Drive at #3. Zach Lear drained the Longest Putt on #1, claiming top honors in that category.
Elsewhere on the course, Brittany Watson ’11 (BS Business Administration) dropped in a hole-in-one at the par three 6th from about 120 yards, keeping her team in the hunt for group honors. The ace was the second of her golf career, also executing the feat as a Tech student-athlete with the women’s golf program between 2007-2010.
Orthopaedics Northeast supported the Warrior Golf Classic as the Fairway Feast Lunch Sponsor, with Michael Kinder & Sons participating as the Tee Time Breakfast Sponsor. Warrior Hole Sponsors included Asher Agency, Elevatus Architecture, Fort Financial Credit Union, Harmony Marketing Group, Indiana Tech Alumni Board, O’Neal Excavating & Construction, Inc., Shambaugh & Son, L.P., Summit Mechanical, Inc., and Strahm Building
Solutions. Finally, Weigand Construction and Corsica Technologies, sponsored the event’s Oops That’s a Mulligan and Winner, Winner Prize games.
The Department of Athletics accepted additional sponsorship and support from Gallagher Insurance & Risk Management, Marsden Service, McAllister and Quinn, LLC, Parkhurst Dining, and Prabodh Kothari ’66 (BS Mechanical Engineering).
“The [Warrior Golf Classic] was a huge success,” Indiana Tech’s Assistant Director of Alumni Relations Morgan Clarke-Wolfe stated. “We had perfect weather and amazing golfers willing to share their time and support. I am excited to see the event grow to become a cornerstone of the athletic development efforts.”
The Warrior Golf Classic will “run it back” Friday, Oct. 2, 2026, during next year’s Homecoming celebration, with additional details to be released over the coming month.
