The mailroom for Indiana Tech’s Fort Wayne campus is responsible for receiving, processing and distributing the college’s incoming and outgoing mail. It supports the high standards of Indiana Tech by offering this service in a courteous, accurate and timely manner, as well as providing a means of communication within the college community.
Monday through Friday: 8:30 a.m.-4:45 p.m.
Closed on the weekends and most federal holidays.
You must purchase stamps and small padded envelopes from the post office. The mailroom does not have these supplies.
It is important that all incoming mail/packages are addressed correctly. Mail that is incorrectly addressed and cannot be delivered will be returned to the sender or placed in our “dead letter” bin. You will need the tracking number to identify the item.
When you are having mail sent to you, make sure the sender addresses it to the name the university has on file for you. This will ensure you receive your mail in a timely fashion, Please notify the mailroom supervisor if you are expecting to receive mail addressed with a name different than what the university has on file for you..
Clearly write the recipient’s name and department. The mailroom is not responsible for the loss of content that is distributed through campus mail. It is important that the mail has a return name on it. This makes it possible to return mail to the sender, without the mailroom supervisor having to open it.
Incoming and outgoing mail
It is important that all incoming mail is addressed correctly. Your incoming correspondence should include your given name. The mailbox number is only for students to locate their mailbox and should be included in the college address. It is not necessary to include the name of your dorm. Mail that is incorrectly addressed and cannot be delivered will be returned to the sender. The mailing address for USPS, UPS, FedEx, DHL is:
First Name, Last Name, (Box#/or Dept.)
1600 E Washington Blvd
Fort Wayne, IN 46803
Packages ordered by students or staff through Amazon should check their delivery instructions.
- Monday-Friday: 7 a.m.-1 p.m.
- Closed weekends and federal holidays
- Deliver to the mailroom or property staff.
When students or staff send a package out from the mailroom, they, along with the university’s business office, will receive an email showing the amount of postage due. Postage must be paid to the business office before the mailroom can send the package out.
The campus mail is distributed in the following ways:
- All students letter mail will be delivered to your dorm mailbox.
- All student packages will be held in the mailroom to be picked up.
- All staff letter mail and packages will be delivered to your department.
All mail is distributed by mail employees only. Personal businesses are not allowed to use Indiana Tech envelopes or letterheads. Mailroom employees will deliver dorm mail to your mailbox and all other packages will be picked up from the mailroom.
UPS ground, FedEx, DHL, Amazon and USPS packages are delivered to the mailroom, Monday through Friday. You will receive a notification through email if you receive a package.
Due to the lack of storage, it is recommended that you send packages to the college not more than one week prior to registration.
The college does provide outgoing package services. However, if you have a small UPS, USPS or FedEx package with a pre-paid outgoing label, you can drop it off in the mailroom for delivery.
Letters or packages that need to be shipped by the post office must be taken to the post office.
Returning unwanted packages
A package cannot be returned without additional postage if it has been opened. Clearly write in bold letters “Return to Sender.” Deliver UPS Ground, FedEx Ground and USPS packages to be returned to the mailroom.
If the mailroom is unable to identify the receiver of a package it will be held for two days before it is returned to the sender. If a return address is not available, the item will go to a “dead letter” bin. You will need the tracking number to identify the package.
